Alzheimer Society of Haldimand-Norfolk
$90,700 over three years to hire a Volunteer Co-ordinator who would recruit, train and manage a corps of local volunteers who in turn would assist and provide respite for clients with Alzheimer Disease and their families.

Big Sisters of Brant County
$12,000 over one year to support the casework costs of Big Sisters of Brant County and the purchase of a new computer and printer.

Brant County Branch of the Ontario S.P.C.A.
$31,300 over one year to fund a Community Relations Co-ordinator position which will raise the profile of the organization through speaking engagements, the implementation of responsible pet ownership programs and co-operation with other local agencies in the development of a community-wide anti-violence campaign.

Brant County Federation of Agriculture
$25,000 over two months to contribute to a farm-scale application of a system that creates compost from farm waste.

The Brantford YM-YMCA
$75,000 over one month to purchase new computers and network them with existing computer resources and to purchase new fitness equipment including 4 crosstrainers and 2 treadmills.

Brantford Youth Soccer League
$13,400 over one month to purchase soccer balls, flags, nets, plastic cones, ball bags, coaches guides and alternate shirts for the select teams.

Caledonia and District Multi-Service Centre
$45,800 over two years to develop new service partnerships and to assist CYPRES, a Caledonia youth group, in its plans for a youth centre.

Canadian Drilling Rig Museum
$3,000 for the completion of a business plan/feasibility study for a museum to document and celebrate the history of gas drilling in the former county of Haldimand.

Canadian Mental Health Association, Haldimand-Norfolk Branch
$40,000 over two years to support a regular series of mental health public education workshops and support groups.

The Canadian Red Cross Society, Brantford Branch
$2,000 over six months to provide Personal Emergency Preparedness Educational sessions for residents of Brant County and to develop Registration and Inquiry kits to reconnect people separated during a disaster.

Canfield Community Centre Corporation
$6,000 over two months to install high-efficiency furnaces in the Canfield Community Centre, which will replace old equipment, save fuel and lower maintenance costs.

Chiefswood Board of Trustees
$18,500 over one year to assist with the operating costs of Chiefswood, a National Historic site celebrating the home and life of E. Pauline Johnson. The grant will assist the site in building its visitor base and becoming more self-sufficient.

Community Resource & Employment Service
$25,000 over ten months to raise awareness of poverty and hunger in Brant County and to promote the health and well-being of children.

Crime Stoppers of Haldimand-Norfolk and Tillsonburg, Inc.
$15,000 over eight months to contribute to an extensive campaign to raise awareness of the Crimestoppers program and tip line.

D.A.R.E. Brantford Inc.
$10,000 over two years toward the purchase of program materials for Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), a 17-week drug and crime prevention program that is delivered to all Grade 6 students in Brantford.

The Dufferin Club of Brantford
$7,000 toward the purchase of a greens-mower for the city's only lawn bowling facilities, which are used by local seniors and schools.

Dunnville District Heritage Association
$7,000 over two months to contribute to the completion of a mural depicting a scene from Dunnville's history. The project was initiated and implemented by a group of enthusiastic students with an interest in heritage and art.

Eating Disorder Foundation of Canada "Brantford Chapter"
$20,000 over one year to support the start-up of Marnie's Place, a transition house in Brantford for women with eating disorders. The funds will be used to develop a resource library, provide evening support and therapy groups for women in the community, and to hire a consultant to help the Board with fundraising and volunteer development.

Erie's North Shore Housing Inc.
$20,000 over six months to Erie's North Shore Housing to fund the employment of mental health consumers in renovating existing unused space into an additional housing unit. This project provides both employment opportunities and increased access to housing for people with serious mental health problems.

Family Living Group (Brant)
$35,000 over two years to provide operational support to an Adult Day Program for Brant County.

The Friends of Myrtleville House
$92,500 over three years to upgrade the children's educational programming offered at Myrtleville House Museum. The funds will be used to hire an Education Officer who will upgrade current programs, develop new partnerships with community groups, and recruit and train volunteers.

Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant
$47,500 over one year to contribute to Art in the Community, an innovative initiative to move art beyond the gallery walls and into the community. The funds will be used for the first phase of this five-year project, including a community consultation, building new partnerships and piloting three outreach projects.

Grand River Employment and Training Inc.
$12,800 over one month to fund a 6 day youth and elder gathering during March break to promote cultural awareness and identity for youth from the Six Nations community through hands-on activities, story-telling and demonstrations of traditional crafts and practices by community craftspeople and elders.

Haldimand-Norfolk R.E.A.C.H.
$20,800 over five months for "Caring Community Coordination Project" to create sustainable, caring community environments for vulnerable children/youth.

Haldimand-Norfolk R.E.A.C.H.
$22,400 over one year to provide staff support for the development of a youth centre in Delhi. The funding will help plan the centre, recruit volunteer labour for its renovation, and assist with fundraising and other support for the project.

Haldimand-Norfolk Women's Services
$21,200 over one year to conduct focus groups with youth throughout the region to discuss the needs of local youth who do not identify as heterosexual. The results of these focus groups will be used to raise awareness of these needs amongst all youth and the broader community.

Haldimand Youth Soccer Club Inc
$64,000 over six months to put artificial lighting on one of the seven soccer fields at Broechler park in Cayuga.

Indian Art-I-Crafts of Ontario
$5,000 over one month to contribute to a Teaching Circle for Brant County schools on February 25th 2000 and an Awareness day highlighting Brantford and Six Nations entertainers and craftspeople on February 26th, 2000.

Jarvis Lions Club
$20,000 over three months to contribute to the costs of replacing lights on the main baseball diamond in the Community Sports Park in Jarvis. This project will be co-funded by the Lions Club with support from the local municipality.

Long Point Lions Club
$10,000 over one year to contribute to a professional community needs and building assessment of the Port Rowan Community Centre to ensure that future enhancements to the building reflect community needs.

The Lower Grand River Land Trust Foundation, Inc.
$7,300 over one month to purchase audio-visual equipment to promote Ruthven, a new National Historic Site, through presentations to visitors and potential visitors.

Lynnwood Arts Centre
$85,000 over three years to provide staff support for the development of new programs. The grant will also contribute to minor renovations to a new Heritage gallery that celebrates the centre's role in community history.

Norfolk Field Naturalists
$60,000 over one year to contribute to a series of projects that will assist with wetland and water resources research, restoration and education in the Long Point area, including restoration of wetlands drained for agricultural purposes and the development of an interpretative trail at a wetland demonstration area.

Norfolk Historical Society
$10,200 over two months to purchase computers and related equipment to support the Eva Brook Donly Museum's drive to enhance its services and appeal to a larger and more computer-literate audience.

Norfolk Little People's Day Care Inc.
$25,000 over one month to support the daycare's expansion of services to toddlers. The centre serves a rural area that has few daycare services.

Nova Vita Women's Services
$75,000 over three years to provide operational support to Nova Vita Women's Services - Men's Program on a declining basis over 3 years while fundraising and other sources of revenue are enhanced.

Ontario March of Dimes
$54,200 over two years to help the Brantford branch develop more business partnerships so additional employment opportunities will be available to adults with disabilities in Brant County.

Participation House of Brantford
$23,000 over one year to support the Brant Integrated Transportation Service which provides accessible transit for seniors and adults with physical disabilities who live in rural Brant County.

Pine Tree Native Centre of Brant
$67,500 over one year to hire a qualified manager to establish Kanata, a model 17th century Iroquois village as a major tourist attraction and to cover part of the start-up costs of audio visual, computer & security equipment and installation.

Royal Canadian Legion, Hugh Allan Branch #158
$12,400 over one year to contribute to a memorial to Lake Erie fishermen who have lost their lives on the lake. The statue, to be erected near the pier in Port Dover, will also commemorate the history and contribution of the area's commercial fishing industry.

Silver Lake Rowing Club
$21,800 over six months to support the establishment of a competitive youth rowing program in Haldimand-Norfolk through the purchase of a two racing shells.

Six Nations Veteran Association
$2,000 over one month to support 50th anniversary celebrations organized by the Six Nations Veterans Association to recognize native veterans.

Southern Counties Girls Ice Hockey
$7,700 over eight months to support Southern Counties Girls Ice Hockey during their 2nd year of operation. Funds have been granted to train more women coaches, referees and trainers to provide power skating clinics for girls and to purchase goalie equipment.

St. Leonard's Society of Brant
$40,000 over three years for a Parent Support Program that helps parents having difficulty coping with teenagers. The program develops parents' skills in interpersonal relationships, child guidance, communication and conflict resolution and provides an opportunity for group support.

Woodland Cultural Centre
$30,000 over two months to upgrade a ramp linking the upper and lower levels of the museum. The ramp will also be part of a story about First Nations' steelworkers, which is featured in the twentieth century gallery.

Young Theatre Players
$7,000 over four months for a part-time administrator to develop a concrete plan for the evolution of the theatre school as envisioned by its Board.
