Adult Mental Health Services of Haldimand-Norfolk $1,000 over six months to implement an education campaign driven by consumer/survivors to increase community awareness and understanding of mental illness.
Arcady $30,500 over two years to increase the local performance opportunities for talented young musicians in the Simcoe area.
Army, Navy & Air Force Youth Boxing Club, Brantford $15,000 over three years toward the costs of purchasing equipment and obtaining training space which will enable more young boxers to train locally.
Big Brothers of Brantford and District $83,300 over two years to expand mentoring programs in Aboriginal and rural communities.
Boys and Girls Club of Brantford $14,000 over two months to purchase safer, modern weight room equipment to better accommodate teenaged and senior users and users with special needs.
Brant Alcove Rehabilitation Services $5,000 over two months for start-up furnishings for a children's residence that will serve youth in the care of Children's Aid Societies in the area.
Brant Brantford Crime Stoppers $5,000 over one year to raise awareness of the local Crimes Stoppers tip line and implement crime prevention programs for youth in order to increase community safety.
Brant & District Football Club $6,300 over three months toward the purchase of new equipment for the Varsity Program which provides young players with an opportunity to enhance their football skills during the summer.
Brant Synchro Club $3,000 to help purchase an underwater stereo system and other audio-visual equipment, which will be used to enhance training opportunities for synchronized swimmers.
Brant United Way $95,300 over 18 months to plan and implement Every Kid Counts, a program to assist children with special needs to participate fully in the regular recreational programming available in the community.
Brant United Way $24,500 over six months to build a new database and thereby enhance the organization's capacity to raise funds.
Brant Victim Crisis Assistance & Referral Service $9,800 over one year to pilot an increase in the ALERT program, which provides lifeline units to victims of domestic violence and their children who have left an abusive relationship and remain at high risk for further assault.
Brant Waterways Foundation $75,000 one-time grant to put directional and interpretative signs on the system of recreational trails through Brantford. These signs will make the trail system easier to access and more user-friendly and will also highlight points of historical, natural and cultural interest along the trail routes.
Brantford Aquatic Club $17,000 over two years to better enable the Club to provide high-quality swimming programs to the community through the purchase of an electronic timing system and assistance in attracting sponsorships.
The Brantford Dutch Club 'The Windmill' $5,000 over one year to contribute to the operating costs of the Dutch Village in the 2000 Brantford International Villages Festival.
Brantford Symphony Orchestra Association Inc. $5,000 over one year to contribute to the costs of producing concerts for local students. These concerts provide an opportunity for youth to develop an interest in classical music.
Brantwood Residential Development Centre $44,300 over one month to contribute to the development of a Snoezelen room for leisure and sensory stimulation therapy of people with disabilities. The Snoezelen room will be shared with the Brantford and District Association for Community Living and Landsdowne Children's Treatment Centre to maximize the use of this community resource.
Briers Basketball Club $19,200 over one year to train additional adult volunteers to be more effective coaches and to expand a 'refs-in-training' program for youth that provides leadership opportunities for the senior basketball players to train and be mentored as referees.
The Burford Lions Club $9,000 over two months towards the resurfacing of the Burford Tennis courts.
Caledonia and District Multi-Service Centre $63,200 over two years to make minor renovations to the Multi-Service Centre space to accommodate new offices and to support the development of a youth centre in Caledonia.
Canadian Drilling Rig Museum, Selkirk $86,500 over two years to catalogue the Museum's collection and to make it available to the public through programs and displays so that Haldimand's historic role in the origins of the natural gas drilling industry will be communicated to future generations.
The Canadian Red Cross Society, Brantford Branch $15,000 over one year to contribute to the enhancement of emergency services training and response in Haldimand-Norfolk. Funds will provide extensive emergency services training for local volunteers with both the Red Cross and Victim Services of Haldimand-Norfolk.
Cayuga and District Chamber of Commerce $24,300 over six months to support the development of Art Works, a proposed non-profit arts and crafts centre to help revitalize the village of Cayuga.
The Chamber of Commerce of the Town of Dunnville $30,000 over three years to increase the financial stability of the Mudcat Festival, a major community festival in Dunnville.
Cottonwood Mansion Preservation Foundation $7,200 over six months to contribute to allow fire regulations to be met and to upgrade the Mansion's electrical system. These upgrades will allow more than 60 people to be in the Mansion at the same time, thereby increasing the size of community events and fundraisers that can be held at Cottonwood.
Dunnville Music Festival Corporation $35,000 over three years to support the work of local volunteers in organizing and planning a music festival in Dunnville.
Enterprise Brant $38,000 over two years to create a non-profit centre where a number of collaborating organizations in the Brant area can reduce overhead costs by sharing space, staff, book keeping operations, and volunteer training opportunities.
Erie's North Shore Housing Inc. $20,000 over two years to help develop a detailed business/feasibility plan for Workshare, a self-employment program for mental health consumer/survivors.
Friends of Paris Culture/Hamilton Place Conservatory $25,000 over three years to assist volunteers with the organization of the Cobblestone Festival and provide funding to stage outdoor theatre and festival events.
The Grand River Chorus Association Inc. $25,000 over one year to develop this community choir's capacity for fundraising and marketing in order to stabilize its funding base and build the choir's long-term sustainability.
Grand River Employment and Training Inc. $5,000 over one month to bring the Spiderwoman Theatre group to Six Nations to provide theatre and workshops on the themes of identity and healing in schools, social service agencies and for the general public.
Grand River Gymmies Inc. $20,000 over two months to contribute to renovations on the second level of the Gymmies building in Caledonia, including a washroom and change room adjacent to the existing multi-purpose room. The renovations will allow full usage of the multi-purpose room for new Gymmies programs as well as to provide space that can be utilized by community groups.
Haldimand Association for the Developmentally Challenged $36,600 over two months to contribute to the development of a Snoezelen room for leisure and sensory stimulation therapy of people with disabilities. The Snoezelen room will be made available to individuals with disabilities supported by a wide variety of agencies in Haldimand and surrounding areas, to maximize the use of this community resource.
Haldimand Association for the Developmentally Challenged $7,900 over two months to create a video that will provide students with developmental disabilities with an introduction to the businesses and employment opportunities that exist in Haldimand.
Haldimand Association for the Developmentally Challenged $109,000 over two years to support the Community Forest Initiative, a collaborative project that will increase community awareness of reforestation issues and build partnerships between a diverse range of groups including schools and long term care facilities, land stewardship and environmental groups and industry.
Haldimand-Norfolk Women's Services $20,000 over six months to support the Haldimand-Norfolk Justice for Women Review Team while it transitions from having a paid-co-ordinator to being self-sustaining. The Review Team will also expand its membership to include local hospitals and Victim Services of Haldimand-Norfolk and will provide one additional education forum on wife assault.
Haldimand-Norfolk YM-YWCA $5,500 over one year toward the costs of replacing fitness and pre-school gym equipment, which will enable the organization to build its membership by marketing renewed programs.
Heritage Mount Pleasant $7,000 over one year to contribute to the publication of a book on the heritage of Mount Pleasant, the installation of plaques marking sites of historical significance in the village, and the development of an annual Founder's Day celebration.
Lighthouse Festival Theatre $30,000 over one year to contribute to an extensive renovation project which will make Haldimand-Norfolk's only professional, non-profit theatre, fully accessible to the public through the installation of an elevator and wheelchair accessible washrooms.
Lighthouse Festival Theatre $5,000 over three years to create a winter classical music series in collaboration with other local partners.
Lighthouse Festival Theatre $12,400 over one month to upgrade the theatre's box office system with new phones and computers, hire a Box Office Manager for the summer and establish a web site to sell theatre tickets via internet. These enhancements to the box office will allow Lighthouse to sell more tickets and provide a higher level of customer service.
The Lower Grand River Land Trust Foundation, Inc. $77,400 over two years to help restore forest, meadow and riparian lands at Ruthven Park in the North Cayuga Slough Forest and to work with landowners to protect environmentally significant areas.
Norfolk Historical Society $65,000 over two years to enable the Eva Brook Donly Museum to develop new programs and reach new audiences in order to increase community interest and knowledge about Norfolk County heritage and culture.
Old Town Hall Asssociation $25,000 over six months towards the costs of completing the architect's planning study of the restoration of the Waterford Old Town Hall which is now owned by a non-profit community group.
Ontario Genealogical Society, Brant County Branch $10,100 over six months to increase access to the organization's library holdings by creating a computerized database that will be accessible via the Internet.
Operation Lift, Brantford $34,200 over one year to promote volunteerism in both Brant County and Haldimand-Norfolk through activities to celebrate the International Year of Volunteers, including a local conference for volunteers.
Optimist Club of Paris Inc. $16,000 to help purchase uniforms for this youth-based Paris Pipe Band.
Optimist Club of Paris Inc. $5,000 over six months to contribute to safety related upgrades of the Optimist's Youth Centre and Annex in Paris in order to ensure that the many children using the buildings will not be endangered in the event of a fire or other emergency.
The Optimist Club of Scotland and District $19,400 over eight months to complete educational and interpretive trails throughout a park in the southern part of Brant County, and to establish a Butterfly/Hummingbird Garden.
Paris Performer's Theatre $10,000 over six months to contribute to the development of a new arts festival in Paris. The Cobblestone Festival will be held on two weekends in August 2000 and will include walking tours of Paris, displays about the cobblestone architecture that is common in the area, live theatre and music, as well as a variety of arts workshops for adults and children.
Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 79 Simcoe $8,800 over six months toward a collaborative project to produce a video about the Alligator Tug, an important part of Simcoe's industrial heritage.
Simcoe Co-operative Preschool Inc. $3,000 over six months to help cover the costs of the organization's move to a more central, accessible location.
Simcoe Curling Club $12,300 over five months to refurbish the club's curling rocks in order to enhance local opportunities for participation in curling.
St. Leonard's Society of Brant $81,600 over 18 months to increase community awareness about services to at-risk youth, including addiction counselling, industrial training and parental support that are provided by Addictions Services of Brant, Brant Alcove, Youth Employment Centre and St. Leonard's Society.
The Town of Simcoe Foundation $3,000 over two months to print new brochures that will raise community awareness of the availability of grant funds and increase donations.
Townsend Lions Club $15,000 over one year to make improvements to a baseball diamond in order to increase the number of sports groups that can use the community ball park.
Vittoria Lions Club $4,500 to help renovate the Vittoria Scout Hut so that scouting and guiding activities in this rural area can be continued and enhanced.
Waterford and Townsend Historical Society $2,300 towards the costs of ensuring that local land records are stored appropriately and can be accessed by the public.
Woodland Cultural Centre, Brantford $38,000 over two years to expand tours offered to schoolchildren, seniors and other community groups that show and explain First Nations heritage and culture.
Young Theatre Players $25,000 over two years to increase fundraising activity and develop new programs including outreach to more rural areas.
