Algonquin Nation Secretariat

$23,000 over one year to promote current services, in both English and French, through proactive recruitment and promotion initiatives, which will strengthen the agency's image of being accessible to both language communities throughout the area.

$24,000 over four months to renovate and re-equip the kitchen in the Bonfield Agri-Dome to accommodate community functions in this small, rural community.

Bracebridge Historical Society
$3,500 over seven months to purchase and install eight free-standing historical plaques commemorating heritage sites and carry out promotional events in conjunction with the 125th anniversary of the town of Bracebridge.

The Bunker Military Museum of Cobalt
$4,800 over three months to provide training on marketing and museum practices to the Board and committee members in order to enhance delivery of services and increase viability of this important community museum.

The Canadian National Institute for the Blind
$22,500 over one year to hire a part-time coordinator to carry out culturally appropriate outreach to the First Nations and francophone communities of Parry Sound and Nipissing districts.

The Canadian Red Cross Society, North Bay Branch
$17,000 over one year to provide injury prevention training for people in outlying communities in the North Bay and District area.

Centre Social et Culturel de Lavigne Ontario
$24,600 over three months to repair the roof, install an accessible ramp and canopy, and a new steel door and new sinks in the kitchen of this active seniors centre in a rural francophone community.

Children's Aid Society for the Districts of Nipissing and Parry Sound
$21,000 to install a wheelchair lift in the Children's Aid Society building in North Bay, which will make the building more accessible to people with disabilities.

Cochrane Temiskaming Epilepsy Association
$32,000 over two years to provide services and programs in the District of Temiskaming and public education about epilepsy aimed at reducing discrimination and promoting integration.

$67,500 over two years to develop and evaluate learning materials used in "Fast Break to Learning," an innovative breakfast program for at-risk secondary school students.

$25,000 over one year to support advertising and promotional initiatives aimed at increasing overall attendance at the Festival and building a stronger base of support.

$21,300 over six months to replace windows and doors and install a ramp for accessibility purposes at the local francophone community camp in the Tri-Town area.

Kabaret Charitable Foundation
$20,000 over three months to purchase lighting, audio cables, and special effects and pyrotechnic equipment to enhance the annual Winter Carnival variety show in Kirkland Lake.

$20,000 over three months to refurbish the Stan Johnson soccer field through grading, installation of underground irrigation, and sport grade sod for safer fields for use by all ages in the community.

MacTier Curling Club
$20,000 over four months to carry out renovations that will make better use of this valuable community facility.

Madadjiwan Economic Development Corporation, Mattawa
$20,000 over three years to cover costs for Honoring Our Grandmothers ceremonies, workshops, and travel to conferences and special meetings.

Matachewan Pioneer Club
$5,000 over two months to build a gazebo and furnish it with outdoor furniture for the seniors of Matachewan on the Royal Canadian Legion grounds.

Mattawa Child Care Centre
$25,000 over five months to purchase supplies, equipment and a permanent ramp so that a French-language daycare component can be offered as part of the existing program.

Mattawa Golden Age Club
$13,000 over four months to pave the club's parking lot and install a light standard to make the area more accessible.

$12,700 over six months to purchase materials and tools to hold outdoor feasts, ceremonies, and community healing activities, and to provide office equipment for improved coordination and development of workshops and activities throughout the year.

$25,000 over three years to set up a once-a-week Family Drop in Centre in Honey Harbour and hold a one-time event featuring a well-known guest speaker.

$5,000 over one year to increase the scope and coverage of the heritage foundation's newsletter and to create and distribute a brochure to promote environmental awareness.

Muskoka Lakes Museum
$33,000 over one year to create an interactive virtual exhibit for visitors to tour the historical development of the lakes and for renovations to insulate and install a heating/cooling system that will extend the museum's season and preserve its collection.

Muskoka Lakes Music Festival
$20,000 over two years for increased marketing, youth music workshops, and the purchase of sound and lighting equipment for the festival.

$25,000 over one year to establish and support groups for people who have experienced a housing crisis in major towns in Muskoka.

$33,000 over one year to develop the infrastructure for a volunteer program to meet the needs of adults who have a serious mental illness.

$32,000 over six months to assist in the development and presentation of an original, dramatic musical, "Indian Heart," which documents the life of Grey Owl.

North Bay and Area Disabled Adult and Youth Centre
$42,000 over four months to install an elevator in the Centre, which will make the building more accessible to the people it serves.

$24,700 over one year to enable the museum to develop and deliver educational programs related to collection management.

$25,000 over one year in operating funds to enable new initiatives that will increase and broaden their audience resulting in more fundraising and ticket selling opportunities.

$33,000 over four months to replace windows and doors in the church hall which is used as a community facility and to renovate two washrooms making one wheelchair accessible.

$20,000 over ten months to broaden the club's use by installing a well and septic system and creating wheelchair accessible walkways.

People for Equal Partnership in Mental Health (PEP)
$25,000 over two years to support the bilingual Club Rendezvous drop-in centre in West Nipissing for mental health consumers and survivors.

$12,900 over one year to initiate a before-school and after-school program for families living in the area.

$10,000 over three months to purchase and install a wheelchair lift and renovate a washroom to make the Church Hall, which is used by community members of all faiths, fully accessible.

Rotary Club of Gravenhurst
$14,400 over two years to organize Circle Talks, an after-school open forum with facilitators working with youth to develop strength and confidence, at the Gravenhurst Youth Drop-In Centre.

288 Royal Canadian Air Cadets
$6,000 over two months to purchase 6 sets of Ski Equipment for young boys and girls of Kirkland Lake to participate in biathlon events through the Air Cadets.

Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 161 (Bracebridge)
$46,000 over one year to renovate the building to make it a more attractive and accessible facility for use by community groups. Renovations include installing a wheelchair ramp. Funding has also been provided to purchase uniforms for the pipe band.

Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 591 (Britt)
$75,000 over six months to renovate the kitchen, washrooms, roof and entrance in order to make the building a safe and accessible facility for use by community groups.

Shawanaga First Nation - Education Department
$6,800 over one year to produce beadwork pieces in school workshops, illustrating local elders' tales, to be included in a book on Ojibway culture.

La Société Historique du Nipissing
$15,000 over 6 months to construct a commemorative wall containing a sculpture and historical plaque to celebrate the francophone history of Northern Ontario

Temagami Community Foundation
$13,300 over one year to provide start up costs to launch the Community Foundation.

Temagami Station Restoration Trust
$16,200 over one year to purchase computer equipment in order to record the Temagami Train Station restoration project, publish a newsletter, digitize historical materials, and make presentations to the public.

Timiskaming Child and Family Services
$55,900 over three years to expand programming into outlying areas by enhancing existing services in Englehart and offering new services in Elk Lake, Matachewan and other small townships in the area.

Trinity United Church
$20,000 over ten months to carry out renovations that will increase access to the church's public spaces, which is open to people of all faiths, for the various community groups who use the facility.

Tri-Town Senior Shuffleboard Association
$20,000 over three months to purchase and install four portable shuffleboard courts in the Cobalt-Haileybury Curling Club to provide summer recreation for area seniors.

Wasauksing First Nation
$18,000 over five months to develop a safe, accessible beach area including, a shelter with a concrete floor, installation of a children's playground facility, laying of sod and improvement of beachfront surface.

West Muskoka Chamber of Commerce
$6,000 over one year to fund the production of promotional material about area attractions and to make some improvements to the Visitors' Information Centre.

White Water Gallery, North Bay
$24,000 over three years to support the costs of presenting a Cuban/Canadian show, which will provide a 'kick start' for the Arts Development Workshop Program.

York Professional Day Care Inc.
$25,000 over five months to purchase equipment for youth leadership and character development programs which will be offered to children of financially disadvantaged families throughout Hidden Bay Leadership Camp's 2001 summer season.
