Big Brothers & Big Sisters Association of Haldimand-Norfolk Inc. $72,700 over two years to promote volunteer mentoring opportunities in order to allow more children to be matched with adult mentors.
Brant County Youth Singers $20,000 over one year for a portable piano, riser, sheet music and uniforms that will allow Brant County's only youth choir to reach new audiences.
Brant Historical Society $25,000 over one year to assist in publishing a 125-year-history of the Brantford Police Service which will help preserve the history of local policing and assist local charities through revenues generated by the sale of the publication.
Brant Historical Society $25,000 over one year to publish a pictorial history book to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Brant County in 2002.
Brant United Way $40,000 over one year to provide bridge funding to '”Every Kid Counts,” a program that enables special needs children to be integrated into mainstream recreation programming, while long term funding sources are developed.
Brant Waterways Foundation $75,000 over six months to develop an eight kilometre multi-use trail on a former rail line in the Brantford area.
Brantford and District Association for Community Living $60,000 over two years to enhance support for teens and adults with developmental disabilities through increased fundraising.
Brantford Rolling Thunder Inline Hockey Association $4,200 over one year to purchase equipment and assist volunteers become certified so that area children will be able to continue to have access to a high quality inline hockey experience.
Burford Agricultural Society $24,500 over one year to build a portable stage that will be used by numerous local festivals and events.
Canadian Diabetes Association-Brantford Branch $80,000 over two years to recruit and train additional volunteers in order to expand diabetes education and support programs.
Canadian Mental Health Assocation, Brant County Branch $4,000 over six months to contribute to a high profile educational event during National Mental Health Week 2002 that will promote acceptance and inclusion of persons with serious mental illness.
Cottonwood Mansion Preservation Foundation $12,400 over one year to help restore and maintain the Cottonwood Mansion, a historical site in Haldimand County, that attracts tourists to the area.
Dunnville Soccer Park Corporation $64,000 over six months to install soccer field lighting in order to increase playing time for both youth and adult soccer players.
Friends of Paris Culture/Hamilton Place Conservatory $18,000 over six months to conduct a market survey that will assess the arts and culture needs of Brant county residents and options for new partnerships.
Grand River Gymmies Inc. $10,600 over three months to help purchase preschool gymnastics equipment for use by children in Caledonia, Hagersville, Jarvis, Ohsweken and Fisherville.
Habitat for Humanity Brant $40,000 over one year to help start a ReStore which will divert re-useable building materials from landfills, enabling local area families to access low-cost materials for home improvements. The initiative is expected to generate revenue that could help fund the construction of homes for low-income families in the area in the future.
Habitat Haldimand Inc. $19,500 over six months to contribute to a conference which will provide students and community members from across Haldimand with an opportunity to hear high profile environmental speakers and learn about new approaches to land stewardship.
Haldimand Art Works $80,600 over two years to create an arts and fine crafts centre that will provide arts instruction for adults and children, as well as provide exhibition and sales opportunities for local artisans.
Haldimand Association for the Developmentally Challenged $6,300 over three months to produce a video that will provide individuals with developmental disabilities and/or their families with an overview of various living opportunities outside the family home.
Haldimand Learning Centre $28,500 over six months to purchase and install computers and software that will enable residents of Haldimand to access computer-assisted learning opportunities.
Haldimand-Norfolk Information Centre $99,800 over three years to establish comprehensive on-line community information and referral systems for the residents of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties.
Haldimand-Norfolk Literacy Council $40,100 over one year to identify the need for English as a Second Language services, locate sustainable funding, and develop and implement appropriate programs.
Immigrant Settlement & Counselling Services of Brant $10,000 over one year to help the organization develop a strategic plan for enhancing services to ethnic communities in Brant County.
Langton & Area Figure Skating Club $4,300 over one year to enable the organization to continue its popular “Learn to Skate” program, and to purchase a computer which will make hosting competitions more cost-effective.
Langton Lions Club $3,500 over eight months to help publish a history book on the Langton Lions Club’s role in the development of Langton and surrounding areas over the past 50 years.
Long Point Basin Land Trust $29,500 over one year to preserve a rare collection of spruce hybrids at the Turkey Point Picetum, the largest living collection of spruce species and genotypes in the world.
Lynn Valley Trail Association $75,000 over three years to develop a multi-use recreational trail between Waterford and Simcoe, which will attract tourists to the area.
Norfolk County Agricultural Society $30,000 over one year to provide operational support to the organization so that it can enhance its marketing program and build financial sustainability.
Norfolk Field Naturalists $90,000 over two years to augment and conserve grasslands habitat in Norfolk and Haldimand in order to assist in the repopulation of barn owls and other endangered grasslands species.
North Brantford Lions Club $10,700 over two years to support the Lions-Quest Skills program which provides young people and their parents with resource materials to support social skills development.
Nova Vita Women’s Services $28,900 over 16 months to update, distribute and promote a protocol for community response to family violence that will inform the community about where to get help; the initiative is being undertaken in collaboration by several agencies.
Nova Vita Women's Services $75,000 over one year to help renovate the existing shelter in order to increase access to emergency housing and supports for women and children who are victims of domestic violence or who are homeless.
Paris Agricultural Society $25,000 over one year to renovate the main entrance to the Paris Agricultural Society in order to address traffic safety problems.
Paris Optimist Club $9,400 over two years to purchase uniforms for the newly formed drum corps of the Paris Pipe Band.
Paris Performers’ Theatre $5,000 over six months to purchase a set of professional lights that will be available for use by the theatre and other community groups.
Port Dover Lions Club $8,500 over one year to help develop a wild-flower meadow adjacent to the lakeshore walking and biking trail in Silver Lake park.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142 (Dunville) $20,000 over six months to replace the roof and heating and air conditioning system in this community meeting space.
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 379 $21,800 over six months to increase the wheelchair accessibility of the building so that it can be used by more community groups and organizations.
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 79 (Simcoe) $7,000 over six months to replace the heating and air conditioning system in this community meeting space.
Simcoe Star-A-Naders Square Dance Club $3,000 over three years to assist the square dance club build its membership. The initiative will enable Norfolk residents to continue to enjoy this traditional recreational opportunity.
Six Nations Brant and District Football Club $10,100 over two months to purchase equipment that will help to create Atom and PeeWee football teams at Six Nations.
South Coast Tourism Inc. $43,200 over one year to build South Coast Tourism's ability to market tourism opportunities in Norfolk, Haldimand and other locations along the Lake Erie shoreline.
St. George Lions Club $11,000 over six months for a collaborative initiative to complete the renovations of a five-acre property in the Village of St. George and create the community's first soccer field.
St. George Lions Club $7,000 over six months to purchase a greens mower for the St. George Lawn Bowling Club.
Telephone City Musical Society $7,000 over two years to purchase and repair musical instruments so that interested members of the community will continue to have the opportunity to perform in this concert band.
The Brantford Gymnastics Academy Parent's Association $12,000 over four months to help host the Level 2 Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2002 in Brantford which will promote gymnastics locally and also bring visitors to the city.
The Canadian Hearing Society, Brantford Office $58,600 over two years to support the establishment of a Hearing Care Counselling Program in Brant that will enable seniors and other individuals with an acquired hearing loss to carry out daily activities independently and safely.
The Haldimand Choralairs Inc. $5,300 over three months to purchase a portable keyboard and uniforms in order to enhance the professional appearance of the choir and allow them to perform in community venues.
The Optimist Club of Scotland and District $20,000 over six months to install lighting at the baseball diamond in Optimist Community Park in Scotland.
The United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk $30,200 over two years to better serve the community by establishing community-based funding priorities and providing training on program outcomes measurement for local agencies.
Todd Eaton Memorial Track Committee $6,700 over six months to purchase hurdles for a track and field facility in Norfolk.
Walpole Antique Farm Machinery Association $10,000 over two years towards the restoration of an antique bridge and farm equipment that will be showcased locally to educate the community about the area's rural heritage.
