Bancroft Skating Club
$25,000 over one year to provide affordable skating instruction to over 75 children and young people in the rural Bancroft-North Hastings area. This will promote healthy activity and fitness for participating children and youth.

Big Brother Association of Kingston and District
$17,300 over 18 months to develop a strategic plan for fundraising. Its implementation will increase awareness of the organization and increase revenue, which will improve service delivery and help more children in the area.

Bridge House (Kingston) Incorporated
$51,200 over two years to provide counselling, family support and crisis intervention to women and families who are arriving or living in the Kingston area because they are presently visiting a correctional facility.

Brigantine Inc.
$75,000 over two years to replace the main engine of the St. Lawrence II sail training ship and operate a sailing program for teens aged 13 to 18 years in the Kingston area. This will teach new skills and develop leadership, teamwork and self-esteem.

Brockville Concert Association
$16,000 over two years to offer music workshops/lectures to the public and intensive jazz workshops in local high schools as part of the annual jazz festival. These will increase awareness, interest and appreciation of music in the community.

Canadian Mental Health Association, Hastings and Prince Edward Branch
$78,500 over three years to recruit and train volunteers to help operate the telephone support service Warm Line. This will provide reassurance and support to Quinte-area residents feeling lonely, isolated or distressed.

Canadian National Institute for the Blind Hastings and Prince Edward District c/o The Canadian National Institute for the Blind Ontario Division
$45,000 over one year to recruit and train volunteers for a peer-support group program for over 120 people with visual impairments in small and rural communities. This will increase their access to vision-related supports, aids and services.

Child & Youth Wellness Centre of Leeds & Grenville
$114,000 over two years to establish the Make Play Possible program, which will provide vulnerable children in the community with positive opportunities for participation, improving attitudes, health and happiness.

Community Care for South Hastings
$41,200 over three years to offer the Grandfriends Program, enabling senior volunteers to lead activities and teach new skills to over 450 students in Grades 4 and 5. This will help seniors and children connect, engage and build relationships.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Treatment and Education Centre Inc.
$25,000 to renovate office space and create a private counselling area, offices and a computerized learning centre. This will improve support services, training, awareness and prevention of fetal alcohol syndrome in the Belleville area.

Gleaners Food Bank Quinte Inc.
$75,100 over three years to improve food donation and distribution and the organizational development of the food bank to better serve over 7,000 families each year in Belleville and the Quinte region.

KFL&A Children's Services Steering Committee c/o Frontenac Children's Aid Society
$105,300 over two years to work with 25 area agencies serving children and youth and community partners to create a community action plan to improve the lives and outcomes of children and families in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington areas.

Kingston Literacy
$145,200 over two years to establish four new family literacy initiatives serving Greater Kingston, Amherstview and Napanee. Activities include workshops for pre-schoolers and their parents, training for volunteers and a child development program.

Kingston Synchronized Swimming Club
$15,500 over three years to provide structured training and evaluation to student coaches, increase club membership and hold a swim meet. This will attract more volunteers and improve skill development, promoting the sport and active living.

Kingston Tennis Club
$25,000 over one year to re-build and re-surface three tennis courts, which will improve safety, increase court availability and attract new members.

Lonsdale Women's Institute c/o Federated Womens Institutes of Ontario
$25,000 over one year to repair the roof and renovate the meeting hall, which will improve its safety and comfort, allowing greater use of it by the Lonsdale community for meetings, events and private rentals.

The Merrickville and District Historical Society
$14,800 over one year for equipment and resources to preserve archives in digital form, establish a secure accessible virtual archive and safely store valuable paper documents. This will preserve significant historical materials for the future.

Napanee Crunch Female Hockey Association
$20,000 over one year to purchase equipment and ice time and train volunteers, which will increase participation of girls and women, develop interest in the sport and promote healthy active lifestyles.

North Frontenac Little Theatre
$28,100 over one year to purchase new lighting, set construction, curtains, audio-visual equipment and hold theatre workshops. This will enhance performances, attract audiences and increase interest in the performing arts in the Sharbot Lake area.

PEC Birding Festival Committee c/o Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory
$35,000 over three years to organize and host an annual ten-day birding festival during spring migration in May. This will promote education, increase interest in birding and the natural environment and boost tourism in the Prince Edward County area.

Counselling and Skill Development Class: Limestone District School Board c/o Prevention Awareness for Life
$9,100 over one year to support volunteers, organize an intervention program and provide a winter-survival field trip for at-risk youth. This will help young people in the Kingston area make positive social decisions and decrease drug and alcohol use.

Sport Kingston Incorporated
$25,000 over one year to develop a community sport council, providing sport-related training, information, resources and management development to 250 local sports organizations and their members.

Strategic Alliance Task Force c/o Social Planning Council of Kingston and Area
$30,100 over one year to support planning, communication and administrative costs, enabling the strategic alliance of three social service organizations. This will improve efficiency, service delivery and access to information for area residents.

Thousand Islands Playhouse
$50,000 over two years to produce and operate a professional show tour with and for local high school students. This will promote appreciation of the performing arts and interest in cultural activity and encourage students to learn through the arts.

Thousand Islands-Frontenac Arch Nature & History Network c/o Canadian Thousand Islands Heritage Conservancy
$50,000 over one year to develop foundation, strategy, communication and funding plans. This will increase the organization’s effectiveness and help volunteers promote conservation and sustainable development within the area.

Town of Gananoque - Gananoque Trails Committee
$25,000 over one year to upgrade and convert an existing one-mile rail bed into a trail system suitable for walking and biking. This will attract tourists, decrease vandalism and provide healthy outdoor recreation for area residents.

Clayton Senior Housing Corporation
$9,400 over six months to purchase safe and comfortable furniture for this Clayton area community facility that is used by area seniors for social and recreational activities.

Community Oriented Sentencing Program (Quinte)
$38,000 over one year to introduce the Youthreach/Self-Esteem Enhancement Development Program in Centre Hastings, an initiative that offers life skills training and support to at-risk youth.

Hearthmakers Energy Cooperative Inc.
$65,000 over 18 months to create a business plan and support educational initiatives to improve energy conservation and promote alternative energy services in Kingston and Southeastern Ontario.

Highway #7 Community Development Corporation
$25,000 over one year to support volunteer recruitment and coordination at a Sharbot Lake clothing depot that provides affordable clothing to area families.

Lanark Highlands Youth Centre Inc.
$53,000 over two years to enable a Lanark youth centre to reopen and offer a range of needed, sports, recreational and health education programs to the youth of this rural community.

Ongwanada Hospital
$24,200 to improve the accessibility of a Kingston area community facility that offers vocational, recreational and social programs for people with disabilities by installing automatic doors.

The Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 212
$40,000 over one year to install a new, energy- efficient heating and air conditioning system in this popular community facility in Kemptville.

Smiths Falls Gym Stars Gymnastics Club
$25,000 to purchase and install a spring floor so that residents of Smiths Falls will be able to participate in safe gymnastic activities.

Quinte, Kingston, Rideau 851 Prince Edward Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets
$19,000 over one year to renovate the organization's Picton offices including the installation of new windows and classroom partitions to improve the venue for youth in the air cadet program and other community groups using the facility.

Brockville Flying Club
$50,000 over one year to renovate the clubhouse to make it accessible with year-round heating so that the club can attract more members and expand programming to include ground school lessons.

Brockville Ski Club
$10,000 to help establish an alpine ski race training program to give youth aged 15 to 18 in the Brockville area an opportunity to improve their conditioning and alpine racing skills.

Corporation of the Township of Tudor and Cashel
$75,000 over six months to repair and renovate the community hall in Gilmour to make its recreational, educational and social programs and activities accessible to more residents in the community.

Elgin Lions Club 2002 Inc.
$40,000 to replace the roof of the community recreation hall so that it can continue to serve as a meeting place for many local families and community organizations.

Family YMCA of Belleville
$75,000 over six months to renovate and improve accessibility of the first floor of the facility to increase opportunities for local residents of all ages and abilities to participate in recreational, fitness and sports activities.

Ferguson's Falls Community Hall Association
$25,000 to renovate the kitchen and washrooms in this heritage building that is being restored to provide a focal meeting and recreational space for members of this rural community.

Gananoque Canoe and Motor Boat Club
$28,300 over six months to purchase beginner, mid-level and competitive boats to improve safety conditions and increase opportunities for participation in recreational and competitive paddling.

Greater Bobs Lake Landowners Association
$71,500 over two years to produce a lake management plan to preserve and enhance the quality of the environment in the greater Bobs and Crow Lakes area.

Independent Living Centre Kingston
$24,100 over nine months to develop a ToolKit that will expand opportunities for volunteer participation by people with physical, psychological and developmental disabilities.

Jasper Women's Institute
$15,100 over six months to make repairs to the exterior of the community hall – the only one in Jasper – to ensure a safe, comfortable venue for community meetings and events.

Kingston Kiwanis Music Festival
$7,900 over one year to purchase computer software and support, print festival literature and secure appropriate performance venues for the annual 10-day festival that features about 2,500 performers of all ages.

Kingston Theatre Organ Society
$33,500 over one year to repair and refurbish part of the society’s Kimball pipe organ, located in the Anglican Church of the Redeemer, as part of a larger project to refurbish the whole instrument.

Madoc and District Lawn Bowling Club c/o Ontario Lawn Bowls Association
$22,500 over six months to repair the bowling greens to improve the playing surface, reduce maintenance time and costs and increase the attractiveness of the club to new members and as a site for future provincial and national championships.

Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists
$15,000 over three years to provide quality environmental education to school and youth organizations in Lanark County.

Municipality of Centre Hastings
$75,000 over six months to replace rink boards and install safety glass, netting and rubber mats at the Centre Hastings Arena to improve safety and encourage participation by people of all ages in skating and hockey.

Napanee Golf and Country Club
$50,000 over six months to renovate the clubhouse to improve accessibility and safety for the many community members and organizations that use the facility.

Newburgh Community Resource Group
$30,000 over two years to establish a child and youth program providing sports, recreational and social activities after-school, on weekends and during school holidays for children and youth aged 6 to 18 in this rural community.

North Hastings Community Integration Association
$50,600 over one year to establish an 18-hole mini-golf course in Bancroft to provide on-the-job training, seasonal employment and job coaching for people with intellectual disabilities, while offering summer recreation for residents and tourists.

Perth and District Community Foundation
$18,000 over one year to help raise the awareness of this recently created community foundation as it builds its profile with not-for-profit and volunteer groups in west Lanark County.

Quinte Bay Gymnastics Club
$24,800 to install a new spring floor in the Belleville gym to improve safety and quality of programming and attract increased participation in gymnastics by children and youth in the Quinte area.

Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 95
$45,000 over one year to refurbish and replace the heating system in the Legion hall in Smiths Falls to make it more comfortable for members and more attractive as a venue for community events and activities.

Smiths Falls Community Theatre Foundation
$45,000 over one year to build a stage, workshop and backstage spaces as part of a local community art and theatre management plan focused on renovating the historic Victoria Avenue Station as a permanent venue for artistic and theatrical activities.

Stirling Agriculture Society
$25,000 over one year to purchase new bleachers and fencing and make repairs to the food booth at the Stirling Fairground to improve the safety and function of the site for people attending the annual fall fair and other events.

Tay Valley Township
$12,300 over three years to establish an intergenerational community choir to help create a unified community identity, based on a shared love of music.

Theatre Kingston
$90,000 over three years to strengthen and expand theatre programming in Kingston by raising the profile of the theatre organization and increasing audience attendance.

Town of Greater Napanee, Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture
$66,000 over one year to purchase furnishings and equipment for the community and meeting rooms of the new multi-use facility, which will provide more opportunities for the community to participate in recreation, sports and leisure activities.

Victorian Order of Nurses Brockville - Leeds and Grenville Branch
$40,000 over one year to launch five rural fitness programs in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark that are designed to improve physical activity and socialization of seniors to increase their overall health and well-being.

Youth Action Kommittee of Perth and District
$50,000 over two years to develop a strategic plan for growing the organization and expanding the programs and services it delivers to local youth aged 12 to 20 to increase safety, reduce community tensions and develop improved life and work skills.

Al Purdy At the Quinte Hotel c/o Prince Edward County Arts Council
$12,000 over six months to stage “Al Purdy at the Quinte Hotel”, an original Canadian play, at the Regent Theatre in Picton, to draw visitors to the area during the 2004 summer season. Note: since the June 24, 2004 Board of Directors' approval, this grant has been adjusted to $6,335.

Almonte Community Coordinates
$37,500 over one year to establish a not-for-profit business that remarkets donated items to encourage community recycling, provide employment and training and generate funds that offer financial support for local initiatives and individuals in need.

Centre Hastings Skatepark Committee c/o Community Futures Development Corporation of North & Central Hastings and South Algonquin
$75,000 over one year to create a youth skating park in the village of Madoc to provide a healthy outdoor activity for the more than 1,400 youth who live and attend school in Madoc.

Corporation of the Township of Front of Yonge
$60,000 over one year to renovate the washrooms and install a wheelchair lift in the community centre to improve accessibility and increase participation by area residents.

Corporation of the Township of Mississippi Mills
$40,000 to purchase equipment and install a skateboard park in Pakenham, which will also be used as a shuffleboard court, bike rodeo course and outdoor rink, for the recreational enjoyment of the community.

Eastern Ontario Biodiversity Museum
$7,000 over one year to develop a strategic business plan that will guide future activities for this Eastern Ontario museum, which is located in Kemptville.

Festival of the Islands Inc.
$24,600 to purchase equipment for improved accessibility and safety around two performance stages at this 10-day community summer festival in Gananoque.

Giving BAACK (Bancroft Area Athletic Charity for Kids) Inc.
$20,200 over six months to purchase football uniforms and equipment that provide safe participation and an affordable program for youth involved in minor football.

The Glenwood Cemetery Company
$75,000 over one year to restore the historic chapel in the Glenwood Cemetery in Picton and to create a visitor centre and genealogical research centre.

Kingston Canadian Film Festival
$52,000 over two years to assist the organization in hosting the annual five-day Kingston Canadian Film Festival, showcasing Canadian film, filmmakers and artists.

Kingston Gymnastics Club
$25,000 over one year to install a new spring floor to increase safety for gymnasts and to enhance the club’s ability to host regional and provincial championships.

Leeds and Grenville Interval House
$46,500 over 10 months to install an upgraded security system that will provide improved safety for abused women and children staying or accessing programs at the shelter.

Lennox and Addington Seniors Outreach Services Inc.
$25,000 over one year to study the feasibility of establishing a community transportation system that serves seniors and people with disabilities in southern Lennox and Addington County.

Lyn & District Heritage Society
$23,000 to purchase and install mobility assistance equipment to improve public access to the Heritage Place Museum in Lyn.

Masonic Transportation Unit
$25,000 to purchase a van to provide transportation for cancer, heart, stroke and dialysis patients from Smiths Falls and surrounding areas to treatment centres in Kingston and Ottawa.

McDonald's Corners/Elphin Recreation And Arts
$20,000 over one year to provide heritage community weaving and pottery programs that will allow community members to learn valuable skills that could lead to self-employment.

Napanee & District Pipe Band and Napanee Optimist Club c/o Lennox & Addington Community Volunteer Centre
$15,000 over one year to host three Napanee musical events this summer, including Music by the River, a Celtic festival and a Broadway musical production, to showcase local talent and attract visitors.

Perth Curling Club
$40,000 to repair and renovate the building to ensure long-term facility safety and encourage increased community participation.

Plainfield Community Homes
$23,700 over one year to expand the volunteer program, implement training in person-centred planning and provide care and support to group home residents.

Prince Edward County Arts Council
$12,500 over six months to host a three-day classical music festival in Picton in September 2004, showcasing modern and established classical music at three evening performances and a school concert for students.

Quinte Community Learning - Bridging The Gap
$60,000 over two years to establish after-school and summer programs for children from low-income families in the rural Frankford area.

Quinte Rowing Club Incorporated
$25,000 over six months to purchase four touring shells to enhance the club’s ability to provide fitness and recreational programs to community members including high school students and persons with disabilities.

Quinte Therapeutic Riding Association
$31,000 over 18 months to purchase two new horses and repair paddock fences that will improve safety and access for children and youth with disabilities participating in this therapeutic riding program.

Rob Roy Pipe Band and Highland Dancers
$10,900 to purchase and install equipment that will improve safety conditions and make more efficient use of practice space for pipers and dancers of this Kingston organization.

Spencerville Mill Foundation
$75,000 over one year to install a ramp and washrooms that will provide barrier-free access to the main floor of this historically significant mill.

Sunnyside Children's Foundation
$25,000 over one year to increase the capacity of this Kingston organization, which provides funds to address the mental health needs of children.

Wellington District Business Association (PEC Marathon Committee)
$24,000 over six months to host the first annual Prince Edward County Marathon in October 2004, offering marathon, half-marathon, team and wheelchair competitions.
