Actifest 2006 c/o Ontario Senior Games Association
$33,800 over one year to train volunteers, develop materials and purchase supplies for the 2006 Ontario Senior Games in Hamilton. The event will engage 1,500 seniors, encourage healthy active lifestyles and promote tourism.

Alzheimer Society of Hamilton and Halton
$13,100 over one year to develop a manual of effective outreach strategies that can be shared with other community organizations and groups, helping them engage the culturally diverse community in the delivery of services.

Ancaster Information Centre and Community Services Inc.
$54,600 over two years to design and implement a volunteer program that will help address the needs of seniors in Ancaster and area.

Catholic Youth Organization
$55,000 over one year to conduct an awareness and marketing campaign promoting the services of the organization and enlisting community support for establishing a universally accessible camp facility in Hamilton.

Hamilton Ballet Youth Ensemble
$86,000 over two years to improve the co-ordination of the organization and develop a dance enrichment and learning program for economically disadvantaged students in the community.

Hamilton Girls' Hockey Association
$36,000 over two years to purchase equipment and provide training for coaches and players, which will help provide a better and safer environment for female athletes to excel in the game of hockey.

Hamilton Pride Festival Inc.
$24,000 over one year to assess the needs of the gay and lesbian community in Hamilton, helping to ensure the effective delivery of services that promote health and well-being.

Hamilton Printmakers Arts Association - The Print Studio
$67,000 over two years to hold monthly art exhibitions at a downtown facility and offer educational programs featuring printmaking to elementary school children, helping promote local artists and engage the community in art appreciation.

Hamilton Program for Schizophrenia (HPS) Family Association
$75,000 over six months to renovate an unused facility and create Cottage Studio, a community-based art space, which will offer programs that promote mental health through creative art.

Hamilton's Community Legal Clinics c/o Hamilton Mountain Legal & Community Services
$76,700 over two years to implement a structured volunteer program that will increase the clinic’s capacity to deliver legal services to low-income individuals and increase civic participation.

Kairos Literary Society
$74,000 over two years to obtain the office space, equipment and skills needed to co-ordinate community literary activities and create showcases for literary work, promoting vibrant artistic opportunities for writers of all ages in the Hamilton area.

LGBTQ Community Wellness Centre of Hamilton c/o Planned Parenthood Society of Hamilton
$43,500 over one year to acquire the equipment, materials and skills needed to pilot support programs for youth and parenting groups in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community that promote health and well-being.

North Hamilton Community Health Centre
$50,000 over one year to expand the collective kitchen, organic gardening programs and the outdoor education program, which promote healthy living and opportunities for increased community interaction.

Robert Land Community Association c/o YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington
$125,000 over two years to open a resource centre that will provide programs and services to a low-income community in northeast Hamilton, increasing opportunities for health and well-being.

Talking about Mental Illness c/o Canadian Mental Health Association Hamilton Branch
$28,000 over one year to train consumers, family members and facilitators, enabling then to continue offering this program to educate high school students and raise their awareness of mental illness and its stigma.

$84,900 over two years to launch a training program for people with developmental disabilities in a newly purchased retail gift shop in Waterdown.

Community Access to Child Health (CATCH) c/o Social Planning & Research Council of Hamilton
$66,900 over one year to support a family resource centre in a high-need area, which will improve children’s cognitive and social skills, teach parenting skills and foster confidence leading to employment and active volunteerism.

Environment Hamilton Incorporated
$29,900 over two years to co-fund the Tonnes for Trees program, the Trees Fest and the printing of a newsletter. Activities will educate the community and increase awareness of Kyoto commitments to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Experimental Aircraft Association of Hamilton
$30,000 over six months to construct a ramp and porch at an educational centre in Stoney Creek, which will increase its accessibility and use by seniors who wish to engage the general public in the study of aviation and airplane construction.

The Factory: Hamilton Media Arts Centre,
$73,700 over one year to provide affordable up-to-date technology for local filmmakers, establish a media resource centre, coordinate volunteers and activities and create employment and skill-development opportunities for members.

Habitat for Humanity Hamilton
$67,500 over one year to purchase a cube van, warehouse and store equipment and other supplies necessary for the establishment of a re-store, which will supply used and recycled building materials.

Hamilton Artists Inc.
$55,000 over two years to purchase equipment and build the organization’s capacity by engaging and training new volunteers and creating new programming opportunities for members and volunteers.

Hamilton Children's Choir
$86,000 over two years to increase community awareness, purchase music and risers and expand rehearsal time for this 100-member children's choir.

Hamilton Downtown Community Development Performing Arts Corporation
$75,000 over one year to renovate this community arts centre by installing new flooring in the gym and converting the cafeteria to a multi-purpose venue, and purchase computer equipment and stacking tables and chairs.

Hamilton Naturalists' Club
$88,300 over three years to develop the capacity of the Land Trust Program through staffing support which will increase and train the volunteer base, increase the number of nature sanctuaries and raise funds for conservation land protection. (An additional grant of $29,400 in Halton-Peel will support this initiative.)

Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra
$140,000 over two years to increase the number of volunteers and manage the new internal box office program to better serve patrons.

Hamilton-Wentworth Gymnastics Inc.
$59,500 over one year to replace the gymnastics club’s aging and outdated equipment, which will help improve facilities for children and youth from East Hamilton and Stoney Creek.

Hamilton-Wentworth Chapter of Native Women Incorporated
$45,000 over one year to implement a volunteer program for the women's shelter and offer training to staff and community members on Native healing and spirituality.

Industry-Education Council of Hamilton
$20,000 over one year to develop a fundraising plan to advance local school and work transition programs for students and the local community.

Junior League VON Respite Centre c/o VON Canada - Ontario, Hamilton Site
$70,000 over one year to renovate the adult day centre and provide better overnight respite for adults with dementia and their caregivers.

Tiffany Falls Access Enhancement Project c/o Conservation Foundation of Hamilton Region
$32,800 over one year to upgrade the existing trails for safe hiking from the Bruce Trail to Tiffany Falls by improving trails and parking facilities, building two footbridges and a viewing platform and adding signage.

Trinidad and Tobago Association of Hamilton-Wentworth
$16,200 over one year to purchase steel drums and accessories, which will allow the steel drum youth orchestra to expand, helping to build cultural pride and steel drum-playing skills for Hamilton youth.

Women's Centre of Hamilton
$23,300 over one year to provide a three-part volunteer engagement program, including community discussions, training, materials and peer-support training for volunteers and agencies in Hamilton.

Adult Basic Education Association of Hamilton Wentworth
$30,000 over one year to help promote awareness of the importance and benefits of lifelong learning in the workplace.

Bereaved Families of Ontario Hamilton/Burlington
$43,100 over three years to provide bereavement support by enhancing children and youth programs and implementing a new young adults program. (An additional grant of $43,100 from Halton-Peel will support this activity.)

chamberWORKS! Music Ensemble
$91,200 over two years to offer 96 in school, interactive and educational concerts and four family concerts, which will provide musical education in Hamilton.

Classic Blend Ladies Barbershop Chorus Inc.
$11,200 over one year to purchase new equipment to improve the singing, choreography, performance and services of this a cappella volunteer choir in the Dundas area.

The Community Adolescent Network of Hamilton
$66,900 over one year to purchase two passenger vans for residences in Parkdale and Upper James, which will provide recreational opportunities for youth with emotional, mental and developmental challenges who live there.

Conqueror II Drum and Bugle Corps
$74,100 over one year towards the purchase of instruments for children from east Hamilton, enabling them to become Drum and Bugle Corp members and take part in parades.

Hamilton Aquatic Water Polo Club
$30,200 over two years to increase the organization's ability to provide water polo activities for primary and secondary school children.

Hamilton East Kiwanis Boys' and Girls' Club
$48,100 over two years towards the purchase of a mobile skate park for youth in Hamilton.

Hamilton Pro Bono Project c/o Hamilton Mountain Legal & Community Services
$12,100 over one year to improve access to pro bono legal services for families who have children with special needs or whose children may be facing discrimination or prejudice in the public school system.

Hindu Samaj of Hamilton and Region Inc.
$31,500 over one year to pilot an exercise program for Southeast Asian seniors on the Hamilton Mountain. The program will focus on issues related to healthy living and will offer seniors opportunities to learn about exercise, yoga, tai chi, pilates and meditation.

L'Arche Hamilton
$27,500 over one year to support people with disabilities through a long-range strategic and fundraising planning process.

Living Rock Ministries
$135,000 over three years to increase this organization's expertise related to developing donor sources and solid corporate and community partnerships to help street-involved youth in the Hamilton area.

The Navy League of Canada - Hamilton Branch c/o The Navy League of Canada (Ontario Division)
$30,000 over one year to establish a SCUBA diving program for cadets in Hamilton aged 12 to 19.

Participation House - Hamilton & District
$180,000 over three years to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities by increasing the financial capacity of Participation House to provide additional services and supports.

Seniors Activation Maintenance Program of Hamilton Inc.
$33,900 over one year to develop an exercise, resource and workshop package to train volunteers and therapeutic recreation and leisure staff in Hamilton to effectively provide fitness to seniors who have limited cognitive or physical abilities.

SOSA Gliding Club
$75,000 towards the renovations of the club facility, resulting in safe water sanitation and accessible washrooms for the Rockton-area members.

St. Joseph Immigrant Women's Centre
$136,000 over two years to offer economic development programming in research facilitation and financial services to immigrant and refugee women in Hamilton, helping to remove barriers to full participation in the labour market.

Supported Housing Coordination Network c/o Mental Health Rights Coalition
$49,300 over one year to assess the feasibility of developing a consumer-run housing model that will offer safe and affordable housing for adults in the Hamilton area who have a severe mental illness.
