Ontario Trillium Foundation Recognized with Special Award
Helen Burstyn, Chair, OTF being presented with an award from Randy Williamson, Chair of the Alumni Committee for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada | Toronto, March 26, 2008 - Randy Williamson, Chair of the Alumni Committee Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, today recognized the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s 25th anniversary of grantmaking and presented the Foundation with a special award for its long-time support to local Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) agencies across the province.
Since 1999, the Foundation has provided more than $8 million to BBBS member agencies to assist with the delivery of high quality, volunteer-based mentoring programs that match children with caring adult role models.
“The possibilities Big Brothers Big Sister programs present for children and youth are endless,” said Helen Burstyn, Chair of the OTF Board of Directors. “They have changed the lives of thousands of youth and enriched the lives of adults who get meaning and joy from their role as mentors.”
“The Foundation is proud to have contributed to so many truly wonderful and impactful Big Brothers Big Sisters programs across Ontario over the years,” said L. Robin Cardozo, CEO of OTF, who attended the event along with Board members Andrea Delvaillé and Jennifer Lynn.
“We are delighted to be a part of OTF’s continued mission to support and strengthen Ontario communities through volunteerism,” added Bruce MacDonald, President and CEO of BBBS of Canada.
