PhotoSensitive Launches its Vibrant Communities in Focus Exhibit - a Celebration of the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s 25th Anniversary
On November 20, 2007, PhotoSensitive helped the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) celebrate 25 years of grantmaking with the launch of Vibrant Communities in Focus, a powerful photographic exhibit, which brilliantly captures the impact that 29 OTF funded organizations made in their communities across Ontario. Staged at the Allen Lambert Galleria in Toronto, the exhibit was made possible through an OTF grant for $216,500.
“As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, we wanted to visibly show the impact OTF grants have been having in Ontario communities over the past 25 years,” said L. Robin Cardozo, CEO, OTF. “We were thrilled when PhotoSensitive proposed using photography to do so, especially since they also planned to engage young amateur photographers from across Ontario.”
PhotoSensitive is a volunteer collective of professional and amateur photographers. Renowned for their ability to bring stories to life, the organization has also published the stunning black and white photography of Vibrant Communities in Focus in a commemorative booklet and a DVD which was featured at the 16 Great Grants Awards events held throughout the province.
Founding PhotoSensitive photographer, Andrew Stawicki had this to say about the project:
“I believe that still photography, especially in black and white, has a way of touching people in a unique way. Our partnership model integrates photography with the power and the mission of a non-profit’s work. It uses images to engage and inspire further action that will lead to more important work and social action, whether it be building communities, influencing policy, or simply donating time and/or money. As a team, PhotoSensitive aims to educate the public, bringing stories to life through the faces of those who receive help from organizations like the Ontario Trillium Foundation.”
